InDesign & InCopy

The InCopy movement is picking up steam. The Adobe Creative Cloud App is the little sister to InDesign, and it enables editors to write, edit within designed documents. Rider has been working inCopy for the last six months, while Powersports Business and Snow Goer have begun working with it this month after a day of training. Meanwhile, Dodi Vessels is on board with the Cheers title. With Dodi working with InCopy, the next title will be Boating Industry.

The goal is to have all titles on InCopy by the end of the year.

Website Redesigns

There are redesigns in the works for all of our company’s website’s, both Oxcyon and WordPress sites.

The first step is transitioning our websites from Oxcyon into new WordPress sites. Beverage Dynamics has been converted to WordPress, and now the Green Media sites are being moved over with Sports Turf being the first to launch within WordPress (Check out work being done at Keep an eye out for a launch in the coming weeks, with more from the Green Group following quickly after.

The Thunder Press Calendar is also being redeveloped. The current calendar has been a pain for the staff to work with, and never matched the expectations of what the Thunder Press team wanted. The new calendar will solve the issues on the back-end for the staff and also make it easier for users to manage and upload their events.

Plans are also in the works for moving the current Powersports (consumer and trade) group sites over to a new responsive template. Initial work to make the Powersports sites responsive was stopped because of the time investment needed to fix the current theme. It was decided that the amount of time it would take to fix the current sites would be better spent completely redesigning them. I (Chris) will be working with the online teams for those brands to get a lot of the early work done to convert the sites to a new theme.

With your help, the redesigns and conversions will be done before the end of the year.

Mobile Apps

It may have been a cool summer, but the Audience Development Department is on FIRE!

Techie News – EPG and SIM are on the move, with our brand new APPS!  Audience Development has been working hard to launch our new digital issue application and taking magazine to a whole new level.  Beginning early in the fourth quarter our magazines will be available in the iTunes store as well as Google Play, Kindle Fire and all android devices.  Subscribers will be able to enjoy their magazine wherever they’d like.  Any platform – any device.

Our initial offering was the frequently seen ‘enhanced print replica’ which was very successful, targeting affluent digital readers and increasing readership circulation around the world. We wanted to amplify our digital success by launching iPad edition, removing the zooming and panning of PDF replicas and adding extras such as video front covers, 360 degree image shots, video and gallery content. The sky is the limit, we are only limited by our imagination.


Stay tuned for additional details, we will surely take your breath away.

Trades shows hit a whole new level, keeping with the techie trends.  We now have the ability to accept digital payments at any tradeshows, while at the same time showing off our digital issues on tablets and iPads, check out the pic below at the recent BMW Rally, Tim Morgan and Geoff Christ along with other team members launched the application with successful results.  While still offering the traditional cash payments and paper forms, subscribers can also pay online and submit full subscriber details with the click a button on one of our tablets.   Next time you’re heading out to a show, be sure to contact us for the techie tips and tricks, as this is not limited to subscriptions but any items that require payment.
